The desert is often mobilised across media to evoke worlds devastated by resource depletion, climate change, or hostile extraterrestrial environments. A visual filter applied to the work intensifies the desert’s anthropocentric perception, underscoring how technological representations of nature and nature itself are inseparable from human transformation. Haunted by entanglements of deep time, unsettling presents, and imagined futures, Dust Devil unfolds as a surreal interplanetary journey oscillating between documentary and fiction, nature and artifice, life and non-life.
