Meltdown, 2024, two-channel video installation with plant grow LED lights, colour, stereo sound, 10 min loop
Meltdown explores the intersection of two automated energy intensive productions, smart farms and cryptocurrency mining, through the lens of cybernetics and thermodynamics. In smart farms, plant growth is controlled by machines and reduced to data, optimised through machine learning. Mining farms convert vast energy into virtual value, accelerating carbon emissions. The looping two-channel video arranged as a diptych, hints at rising entropy and irreversible transitions, subtly revealing the irony of technologies that regulate life while intensifying planetary crises.
